Introducing: Translation memory
Another day, another exciting feature to introduce! Today, we are thrilled to announce the launch of translation memory in SimpleLocalize. This feature is designed to help you save time and maintain consistency across your translations by storing and reusing previously translated content.
What is translation memory?
Translation memory is a database that stores previously translated content, allowing you to reuse it in future translations. This can include individual words, phrases, or entire sentences that have been translated in the past.
In SimpleLocalize, translation memory uses all the translations in all projects you have access to. Thanks to this, you can benefit from the translations made by your team members or even by yourself in the past.
How does translation memory work?
Translation memory works by comparing the content you are translating with the content stored in the database (a glossary). If a match is found, the translation memory suggests the previously translated content, which you can then choose to reuse or modify.
SimpleLocalize uses a matching algorithm to find the best matches for your content by comparing the source text, translation key, and other factors. It offers you a list of suggestions, ranked by relevance, so you can quickly find the best match for your translation.
How to use translation memory in SimpleLocalize
Translation memory is integrated directly into the translation editor in SimpleLocalize and is available to all users and plans. It works based on the content you are translating, so you don't need to do anything special to enable it.
You can find the translation memory suggestions in the translation editor. Open the more options menu (⌥) and select "Translation memory" to view the suggestions for the current translation.
From there, you can choose to apply the suggested translation.
For easier access to the translation memory feature, go to the editor settings and enable translation memory button in Quick Actions. This will add a button to the editor toolbar that allows you to quickly access the translation memory for the selected translation.
Benefits of using translation memory
There are several benefits to using translation memory in SimpleLocalize:
- Save time: By reusing previously translated content, you can save time on repetitive translations and focus on new content.
- Maintain consistency: Translation memory helps you maintain consistency across your translations by reusing approved translations.
- Improve quality: By reusing high-quality translations, you can ensure that your content is accurate and error-free.
- Collaborate more effectively: Translation memory allows you to benefit from the work of your team members and share translations across projects.
